Gabbee Stolp

Gabbee’s practice incorporates an array of materials from precious metals and ceramic to found objects and products of taxidermy. Objects from deceased animals such as bones, teeth, feathers and fur are integral to her work. The intention is not to be perverse. The use of these parts is like a resurrection of the creature that once was. The highest respect and appreciation is expressed through this transformation process. Her practice asks human beings to consider their own mortality and their own existential perceptions concerning the fragility of life.
